I am very new to EzBoard. I just started my ezboard, Everything Interesting, on March 6th. I never meant to spam. I know nothing about hacking, or code. I know about 12 tags in HTML, and about 2 in CSS. I nothing of JavaScript. I am not even completely certain of what is happening on my board. Beginning about a week ago, I began joining some boards, out of curiosity. Suddenly, I find I am getting 15 to as many as 64 visitors every 15 minutes on my board. I really don't understand what is happening here. All I know is that I am totally bewildered and even scared to the point of wanting to delete my board and get off the Internet for the rest of my life. This is not ezboard's fault, its just plain ignorance and dumbness on my part. I am not out to spam any boards or anyone. The laughable truth is that I don't know much about the internet. I am what you would call internet-illiterate. I know, everyone will be on the floor laughing so hard at me and my pathetic board that they will require emergency surgery to repair their side stitches. I am so sorry for being so dumb and uneducated. Perhaps I should sell my computer and forget about the Internet for the remainder of my natural life. I received an email from an atlass: Putting your board url into your personal icon to force people to your board is against the TOU of ezboard, and you have 24 hours to remove it before you are reported to legal. Also - spamming boards is also against the TOU. Next time don't try it out on ezboard moderators forums if you don't want to be caught. atlass bug base moderator I am scared so bad I will require professional counseling. The last thing I ever wanted was to get in trouble. What does atlass mean by Putting your board url into your personal icon ? What is a personal icon? Yeah, I was born yesterday. I am not kidding, I am forever running to catch up with everyone, even in real life. I have no idea what to do to fix what is wrong. All I DO KNOW is, I am very sorry that I have ever caused so many fellow ezboard users to become so upset. Also, I never would ever want to force other ezboard users to go to my board. I am willing to wait a year to get 10 members. This is not about numbers of members, it's about the members themselves! Apology post edited for security reasons, on 4/16/03 at 9:50am. This what was removed: I have learned that I linked my board to my personal icon, and that caused ppl to be re-directed to this EzBoard. Also, ppl have reported links to this EzBoard appearing on their Last Communities Visited List.

Just take your time........My thinking is we can get together on chatrooms and discuss graphics and stuff, but I think that changes on the EI community should be done slowly. That way it's always changing and change tends to bring ppl back. Unless you think that's a bad idea.... I am the ezOp of that Everything Interesting gold community that was seeing all the re-directed visitors. I need to know from EzBoard staff and administrators: Is the problem resolved now? I had mistakenly placed my board's url into my personal icon and Profile Link, and that was re-directing visitors to my board, and also causing links to my board to appear in ppl's Communities Last Visited lists. Yesterday evening, I removed my board's url from my personal icon and from my personal link in my Profile, in an effort to resolve this problem. I would appreciate it if the staff and EzBoard administration would help me verify if I have resolved this issue to everyone's satisfaction. Again, I express my sincere regret over the problems and anguish I have caused this EzBoard establishment and to EzBoard members over the past 10 to 12 days, and I profoundly apologize to everyone. Still getting too many visitors here...... This is K. Ben Ebberly from Everything Interesting. Choose a level that suits you, and follow instructions. If you don't understand one level, go down a level. -------------- Advanced: The advanced section of ezboard allows you to place the contents of the forum into a table, or series of nested tables. You can pretty much design and code whatever you like. The trick is to design and create the html on your own pc using the method of your choice. Place a spoof table, with a width of 95% into the table cell where you want your eventual forum to appear. That is the spoof forum. Once you've got the html looking perfect on your own computer go to the advanced area in your ezboard control panel. Take all the table code (just the table code, no body tags, or html tags) that comes BEFORE your spoof forum table, and paste it into the custom header. And take all the code that comes AFTER the spoof forum code and paste it into the custom footer. (Again, only the table code, no html or body tags.) Now you know why I prefer the direct transfer method of moving money from your 401(k) plan to an IRA. A direct transfer results in none of the problems cited above. Nothing is withheld for income taxes when the 401(k) account is closed, so you have no potential problems with the tax man, nor must you pull assets from other sources to make up for the 20% withheld. In a rollover, you have full control over the money. In a direct transfer, you never see the cash because it flows directly from the 401(k) plan custodian to your desired IRA custodian.

Worried about how to arrange such a transfer? Don't be. Both your plan custodian and your desired IRA custodian do it all the time, so both can guide you through the process. Just tell them what you want to do, then follow the administrative instructions they provide. Remember that any check issued by the plan should NOT be made out in a way that allows you to cash it. As long as it isn't, you will have no problems with income taxes.

Lastly, you may wish to have the money transferred to a separate and distinct IRA of its own. That keeps those funds eligible for a future transfer to a new employer's 401(k) plan when the new plan accepts rollover money from an old employer's plan. If you mix your 401(k) money with IRA money that did not come from an old employer's qualified retirement plan, that money forevermore loses its eligibility for a future transfer to a new employer's plan. If retaining that transfer eligibility is important to you, then forewarned is forearmed.

I also like David and Tom Gardner's book, Rule Breakers, Rule Makers, and Mary Buffett's book, Buffettology. The philosophies in the two books are about the same, but the specific technique vary.

However, as a new investor, you shouldn't mess with individual stocks yet. I recommend new investors start with a core portfolio consisting of ONE stock index mutual fund tracking a broad stock market index, like the S&P 500 or the Wilshire 5000. As investors approach retirement age, they may want to THINK about adding to their core portfolio ONE bond index mutual fund tracking a broad bond index, like the Lehman Brothers Composite Bond Index. After investors have at least several years' gross income invested in their core portfolio, then they can THINK about expanding their total investment portfolio to include individual stocks and bonds and maybe some sector funds.

Additionally, the single factor most predictive of investing success is controlling costs. Small investors should keep their annual costs to less than 1% of their portfolio value, and much less is much better.

With a cash warchest of $2000, 1% is $20, so you can afford to make one individual stock transaction this year, even if you go the DRP route. That's not enough diversification.

People get into name-calling, hair-pulling arguments over how much money is needed to invest in individual stocks. The lowest, credible numbers I've seen are in the $20,000 to $50,000 range. I think the right answer is around $100,000.

Flooding Rains Fall in Mid-Atlantic 8AM EDT, June 19, 2003 By WeatherBug Chief Meteorologist Mark Hoekzema Residents in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area are experiencing something that has not occurred in 24 years. So far this year, the metro region has yet to see it`s first 90-degree day. The last time the area saw a later first 90-degree day was in 1979 when the mercury topped 90 on July 12. In a normal year, the first 90-degree day occurs by May 19th, but this year is no normal year. The region has been deluged by spring rains that have pushed rainfall totals for the year 8-13 inches higher than normal throughout the area and an unusually cloudy and cool pattern has kept temperatures much below normal. Much of the same can be said for regions of the Ohio Valley, Eastern Great Lakes and New England. Plentiful rain, and cool temperatures have been the norm for many areas. Overnight, western suburbs of the Nations` Capital saw 1-5" of rain in just 5 hours that caused flash flooding in western Fairfax County. Chantilly, Virginia was inundated with 4.81" while Reston, Virginia was soaked by 2.5". The heavy rain and high water had closed several roads and was creating commuting problems in the morning rush hour. Flash flood watches had been raised for many areas in the East. Watches stretched from New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania down through Maryland and western Virginia, the western Carolinas and into Georgia. The watches had been raised because most of the Eastern Seaboard has saturated ground. The threat for widespread showers and thunderstorms with rainfall potential exceeding 1-2" could cause flooding in nearly any location. A slow moving cold front pushing through the Great Lakes and Ohio Valley today will be the focus for showers and storms as it pushes through the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic over the next 24 hours. South of the front, warm, humid and unstable air will be drawn northward and enhance the rainfall and thunderstorm potential. The front is forecasted to stall along the East Coast and a low pressure system forming off the Mid-Atlantic will keep the threat for showers and thunderstorms across New England, the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast through Friday. As the storm slowly drifts east, it will keep the chances of rain in over Southern New England, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland on Saturday and along the eastern seaboard from Boston to Atlantic City on Sunday.

Mr. Berenzweig is able to help employers as well as employees address discrimination and other employment issues in state and federal court, as well as investigations and litigation before administrative tribunals such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Merit Systems Protection Board, and Workers Compensation Commission.
